The theme for this year is
"Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet. "
Breastfeeding gives babies the best possible start in life.
Breastfeeding, though a natural process is not always easy. Mothers need support and skilled counselling to start and sustain breastfeeding.
Education and counselling is very important to build confidence in mothers and prevent feeding practices which interfere with exclusive breastfeeding like provision of unnecessary liquids, foods, topmilk or formula substitutes for young infants.
